Prada campaign

Two great actors from two films I loved this year - Ezra Miller Perks of Being a Wallflower and Christoph Waltz Django Unchained. These shots by David Sim's for Prada's F/W 2013, in similar vein to the snaps of Gary Oldman and Willem Dafoe from last year, are great.

A.P.C. Sweater

I can't help myself when it comes to A.P.C.'s sweaters. Always in the perfect off-black / grey marle, they're lightweight and deliciously comfortable. Both of these are new on online for the pre-fall 2013 collection.

Clear frames

I have astigmatism and have to wear glasses for mostly everything... Reading, looking at a computer screen, watching movies, reading street signs. Wearing glasses has become my life for the last few years and wearing the same thing every day can get real boring. I was really ready to retire my tortoiseshell Dita Royce lenses.

I'd never really considered wearing clear frames until I tried them on. It was love at first sight. From a distance it didn't even look like I was wearing glasses, and they were so wardrobe versatile!

Given the clear framed glasses I had tried on over Christmas did not belong to me, but my sister, the hunt was on... Let me tell you it was a hard one.

Oliver Peoples: Afton, XXV-RX & Gregory Peck
I wanted Oliver Peoples frames. I'd had my eye on several different styles within their mostly staple collection, but alas the buff/clear colour (as shown in the Gregory Peck style at the bottom) was not available in many of the styles that I liked. Also, given the price tag, I really wanted to try them on before committing to ordering from the US where it was unlikely to exchange or refund - but nowhere in Sydney stocks an extensive enough range of Oliver Peoples. Someone needs to sort that out stat.

Warby Parker: Percey & Duckworth
My manager told me to have a look at Warby Parker, and if it wasn't for the hunt for the perfect clear frames I probably would've purchased some from here. The guys behind this company started it with the premise of bring awesome eyewear at a fraction of the designer price with their limited edition frames starting at $95. They also offer a cool "try at home" service where you can select up to 5 pairs that they'll send out to you at no charge! Oh if only they had a clear frame in sight...

Dita: Empollon & Courante

I love Dita frames. No other glasses I've ever worn have felt so good on my head as they do. Having worn some really nice Royce frames for two years I would've been happy to purchase that style again in a clear acetate, but nothing's ever that easy. I mostly wear gold jewellery and the exquisite gold arms on the Empollon really did things for me but unfortunately, my sister had beaten me to the clear frame thing and snapped these cuties up. Theses are the frames that started my love affair for clear acetate frames! I knew Dita and I had something good going! I spotted the Courante at my optometrist when I wasn't in a position to drop $500 on new frames and probably lost some sleep over them, but by the time I was ready to return I had already found something else...

Steven Alan: Lewis, Douglas & Franklin

Steven Alan is a well established label from New York that after selling different brands of glasses in their stores, branched out into releasing their own optical line in April this year. Their optical website has a really great user experience as well, you can virtually fit glasses to your face or opt for the try at home package similar to Warby Parker. With all their frames starting at $195 I was pretty siked on finding a pair at this reasonable price, and after much contemplating I decided to purchase the Franklin frames. I admittedly was slightly worried that they looked yellow in the images, however I did not opt for the more grey clear as I had seen them in real life and they were much darker than what I wanted. My new Steven Allan frames arrived at work and I hurriedly tore the packaging off and ran to the bathrooms to try them on and thank god they looked alright! They were a bit tight at first around my (obviously large) head, but after a few weeks they are much more comfortable. The metal and pins in the frames are rose gold, and although I'm an admitted yellow gold gal, I love how subtle the rose gold is.

Here's a snap of me, in my nice clear specs. Four eyes forever.
